As Israel and the US enter the fourth day of their attacks on Iran, details have emerged regarding the assassination of Iranian religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in the early hours of the war. Officials speaking to the British media reported that Mossad had infiltrated Tehran's traffic camera network over the years to monitor high-ranking Iranian officials.
Sources speaking to the British Financial Times reported that years before the attacks in which Khamenei and senior bodyguards were killed, Mossad agents gained access to Tehran's traffic camera system.

According to the report, Israel gained access to almost all of the cameras in the city, which it heavily used to monitor Iran's regime opponents and its own people, and tracked the movements of critical bodyguards.
It was stated that images were transmitted to Tel Aviv and southern Israel, allowing Mossad to gather detailed information about the addresses, work schedules, and whom the bodyguards were protecting.

It was expressed that a particular camera angle was crucial for the operation, as agents tracked where the bodyguards parked their personal vehicles when they arrived at Khamenei's compound located on Pastor Street in central Tehran.

According to a report by Nefes, these steps were recorded as part of the intelligence operation. It was claimed that after Israel identified Khamenei's location on Saturday morning, they disabled about a dozen cell phone towers around Pastor Street to make the searches appear busy and prevent security from receiving possible alerts.

An Israeli intelligence official speaking to the Financial Times stated, "We knew Tehran as well as we know Jerusalem. When you know a place as well as you know the street you grew up on, you notice even a single thing that is out of place."
According to the newspaper's report, the CIA also had a human source that provided vital intelligence.
This source, combined with Israel's artificial intelligence tools and algorithms, examined a vast dataset regarding Iranian leadership and movements, enabling tracking up to the meeting where Khamenei was hit.

After Israel and the US determined where Khamenei held the meeting, they decided to take action.
During the war process, it was noted that Khamenei was taken to bomb-proof shelters underground, and that moving early provided an element of surprise.

Traffic cameras, hacked phone networks, and the CIA source on the ground were used to show that Khamenei's meeting took place as planned.
It was noted that senior Iranian national security officials were in another part of the building during the attack.
