It has been suggested that Iran's new generation of missiles, with their high maneuverability and increased precision targeting capability, are challenging US air defense systems in the region. While Iran claims that its new missile and drone systems have increased the accuracy rate in attacks on US bases, it has been stated that tensions in the region continue to escalate with military losses.
It has been claimed that Iran's new generation of missiles are challenging US air defense systems. US officials are considering the possibility that China or Russia may have provided technical support behind Tehran's remarkable increase in precision targeting capabilities.
IRAN'S NEW GENERATION MISSILES WORRY THE US
According to a Wall Street Journal report citing US officials, Iran's newly developed missiles with high maneuverability and difficult interception are beginning to strain American air defense systems in the region. The report stated that Tehran has managed to adapt to US defense systems thanks to the new technologies it has developed.
US officials are considering the possibility that China or Russia may have provided technical support behind the sudden increase in Iran's precision targeting capabilities. However, it was noted that there is no public concrete evidence confirming this claim.
US SOLDIERS KILLED
The tension in the region has also been reflected on the ground. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that on July 17, during an operation in Jordan, two US soldiers were killed, one soldier went missing, and four soldiers were wounded.
The official statement did not provide details of the operation, but it was reported that Iranian elements have increased missile activities, particularly targeting military points near the Jordanian border.
"NASR 2" OPERATION CONTINUES
It was stated that Iran's operation "Nasr 2," which is said to target US and allied bases in the region, has entered its seventh day. In attacks carried out in coordination by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and missile and drone units, the Muwaffaq al-Salti Air Base in Jordan was reported to be under intense fire.
Local sources reported that thick smoke rose from the military facility following missiles hitting the base.
"HIT RATE INCREASED" CLAIM
Hamid Reza Moqaddamfar, Media Advisor to the Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, argued that in recent operations, missile and drone systems have achieved a much higher hit rate compared to the past. Moqaddamfar claimed that the new methods have caught the opposing side off guard, while asserting that attacks on US bases in Syria and Jordan have caused serious damage.
STRAIT OF HORMUZ WARNING
Moqaddamfar also highlighted the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb, stating that if economic or maritime pressure is exerted on Iran, it could affect global energy balances. He claimed that in such a scenario, not only the US but also European countries would face severe consequences.
