Iran made a statement regarding the kamikaze drones launched into Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan region. Iranian officials stated that they did not attack Azerbaijan, saying, "We did not target Azerbaijan, we are not attacking neighboring countries." Iran had also made a similar statement regarding the ballistic missile intercepted in Turkey.
The Nakhchivan Airport in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan was attacked by a kamikaze-type unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) belonging to Iran. In the same attack, a UAV also fell near a school building in the village of Shekerabad.
AZERBAIJAN ACCUSED IRAN
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense made a statement regarding the UAV attacks carried out from Iranian territory. In the statement, which mentioned that the technical specifications of the UAVs and the details of the attacks are being investigated, it was stated, "The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense unequivocally condemns the attacks carried out by the Iranian Armed Forces against civilian infrastructure in our country, despite there being no military necessity. It has been emphasized that the responsibility for the incident lies entirely with Iran.
RETALIATION THREAT
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense is preparing necessary countermeasures to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country, and to ensure the safety of civilians and civilian infrastructure, and these attacks will not go unanswered," it was stated.
IRAN: WE DID NOT TARGET AZERBAIJAN
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Gharibabadi stated regarding the drones that fell in Azerbaijan, "We are not targeting our neighboring countries; Iran did not strike Azerbaijan. Iran's policy is only to strike enemy bases that are active in the region and used to hit civilians."
