Kuwait summoned the Iranian Ambassador to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after an infiltration attempt on Bubiyan Island.
PROTEST NOTE DELIVERED
In a statement from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was reported that Deputy Foreign Minister Hamed Suleiman Al-Mishan summoned Iran's Ambassador to Kuwait, Tutunci, to the ministry and delivered a protest note regarding the incident.
The statement conveyed that Kuwait considers the incident a "hostile act" and demanded that Iran immediately and unconditionally cease such activities.
The ministry's statement also noted that the events constituted a clear attack on the country's sovereignty and a violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.
The statement emphasized that Kuwait reserves its right to legitimate self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and has the right to take all necessary measures to protect the country's sovereignty and the safety of its people.
INFILTRATION OPERATION WITH FISHING BOAT
In a written statement from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, it was announced that an armed group, reported to be members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, attempted to infiltrate Bubiyan Island "to carry out hostile acts against Kuwait."
The statement noted that "the group confessed to being tasked with infiltrating Bubiyan Island using a specially chartered fishing boat."
The ministry's statement also indicated that those attempting the infiltration clashed with Kuwaiti soldiers, resulting in one soldier being injured and two individuals fleeing.
