In the operation organized by the Istanbul Police Department teams, R.A., who was wanted by Interpol with a red notice, was caught red-handed at Istanbul Airport. The Istanbul Police Department has added another successful operation to its list of internationally wanted individuals. A foreign national suspect, sought with a red notice by Interpol, was caught red-handed and detained at Istanbul Airport following meticulous surveillance.
TIGHT SURVEILLANCE AT THE BORDER GATE: R.A. DETAINED
In activities carried out by the Istanbul Airport Branch Directorate of the Istanbul Police Department within the scope of risk analysis and passport control checks, a 28-year-old individual named R.A., who drew attention with suspicious movements, was placed under surveillance. After identity and passport inquiries, it was determined that the suspect was sought by Interpol (International Criminal Police Organization), and detention procedures were implemented at the airport on June 14, 2026.
RECORDS OF RESTRICTIONS FOR DRUGS AND SMUGGLING FOUND
In the investigation and examinations deepened by the Anti-Immigrant Smuggling and Border Gates Branch Directorate, it was determined that the suspect was sought with a red notice by Iranian judicial authorities. A detailed query in police systems revealed that R.A. had records of restrictions (entry ban/warrant) for drug trafficking offenses as well as international smuggling crimes, visa, residence, and work permit violations, and many similar matters.
EXTRADITION PROCEDURES INITIATED
It has been learned that deportation and extradition procedures for R.A., who was caught at Istanbul Airport and taken to the police station with a lengthy criminal record, have been initiated to return him to the relevant country (Iran) after the completion of legal proceedings in Turkey, and the processes are being carried out with precision.
