Is Cübbeli the target of President Erdoğan's words?

28.11.2024 12:30

In his speech at the 7th Religious Council in Ankara, President Erdoğan stated, "Clerical duties and showmanship cannot coexist under the same guise. It is a grave sin that cannot be accounted for in either world when individuals expected to be role models for society stray from sincerity in pursuit of fame." It has been suggested that Erdoğan's remarks were aimed at Ahmet Mahmut Ünlü, known to the public as Cübbeli Ahmet.

During the 7th Religious Council held in the Conference Hall of the Presidency of Religious Affairs the day before yesterday, President Erdoğan used striking expressions.

"IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR US TO REMAIN SILENT ABOUT THIS"

Stating that systematic attacks have been carried out against the Quran, the Prophet Muhammad, his hadiths, scholars who have illuminated the paths for centuries, and those who have nurtured the land with faith and wisdom, Erdoğan said, "Sometimes the ignorant, sometimes those who have read little or half-read, and sometimes those who, while chasing knowledge, have missed wisdom, are corrupting the younger generations through the media. In recent years, we have also observed that films, series, and television programs target our religious values and the religious people along with families. Through a few exceptional negative examples, all religious people are insulted, foundations, associations, sects, and religious institutions are lynched, and religious people and values are being tarnished. Our citizens who wear turbans, have beards, wear headscarves, are in chadors, or robes are being attacked immorally, and character assassinations are being organized. Just like during the February 28 period, certain segments of our society are being portrayed as monsters and are being insulted and provoked. It is not possible for us to remain silent and unresponsive to this," he said.

HE FILED A COMPLAINT

Erdoğan expressed his belief that everyone who has knowledge and responsibility should establish a strong resistance line against these attacks and stated that he wanted to file a complaint. He emphasized that scholars have entered a dangerous path by bringing the most sensitive, profound, and intricate issues to the media and social media, noting that topics that should be discussed and debated among scholars are being made public.

HE REFERRED TO ISMAILAĞA AND MENZIL

President Erdoğan drew attention to the fact that the disputes among civil religious structures erode public trust in these institutions, stating that the deterioration of civil religious structures in this way prepares the ground for certain deviant formations and that bad examples lead to a loss of hope in society. It was suggested that Erdoğan's remarks alluded to the events occurring within the İsmailağa and Menzil communities.

"RELIGIOUS LEADERSHIP AND SHOWMANSHIP CANNOT BE IN THE SAME VEIL"

Continuing his remarks, Erdoğan stated, "Religious leadership and showmanship cannot coexist in the same veil," adding, "The disease of fame causes sincerity to disappear. The burden of this is heavy. It is a grave sin for those expected to be examples to society to stray from sincerity for the sake of fame, and it cannot be accounted for in either world."

SO WHO ARE THESE WORDS ADDRESSED TO?

The identity of the person Erdoğan was referring to with these words has become a major topic of public curiosity. According to claims circulating in the corridors, the target of Erdoğan's remarks is Cübbeli Ahmet Hoca. It is recalled that Cübbeli Ahmet Hoca had recently said about Galatasaray's star football player Icardi, who was experiencing crises in his marriage to Wanda Nara, "He will go to eternal hell because he is faithless."
