A jeweler who has been a tradesman in Fatih, Istanbul for 20 years allegedly disappeared with about half a ton of gold collected from the market, causing an earthquake-like shock in the district. Speaking about the incident, in which hundreds of citizens as well as İDDEF and Erenler Foundation, close to the İsmailağa Community, are claimed to have been victimized, Cübbeli Ahmet reacted harshly, saying "I warned you beforehand."
The Fatih district of Istanbul was shaken by a staggering fraud case. It emerged that Mehmet Y., the owner of a business operating as 'Altıneller Jewelry' for about 20 years on Darüşşafaka Street in the Atikali neighborhood, disappeared with nearly 500 kilograms of gold entrusted to him by customers. When the shop suddenly shut its doors, local residents realized the truth and suffered great hardship in shock at losing their savings.
GOLD OF FOUNDATIONS AFFILIATED WITH ISMAILAGA ALSO LOST
The scale of the scandal that shook the district was not limited to individual investors. According to bombshell allegations, the Federation of Associations Valuing Humanity (IDDEF), known for its ties to the Ismailaga Community, and the Erenler Foundation had also entrusted considerable assets to the jeweler. With half a ton of gold vanishing overnight, the fraud reached community foundations as well.
STRONG REACTION FROM CUBBELI AHMET: WHOSE GOLD WAS THIS?
Following the scandal, a striking statement came from Ahmet Mahmut Unlu, known to the public as 'Cubbeli Ahmet'. Reminding that he had previously warned against the management of these foundations, Unlu questioned the amount and source of the lost gold on his social media account, saying:
'At Altineller Jewelry, where 500 kilos of gold evaporated, how many kilos of gold belonging to IDDEF, affiliated with Ismailaga, and the Erenler Foundation, affiliated with Mahmut Eren, were lost, and whose gold was this? Those who do not believe in miracles from the grave have now seen a shock from the grave.'
'THE SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY USURY AND FORBIDDEN'
Referring to the mechanism behind the fraud, Unlu stated that the jeweler applied an interest system to collect gold, which is not religiously permissible. Arguing that donations given by citizens for charity and sacrifice were squandered in such places, Cubbeli Ahmet concluded with striking warnings:
'Do you know what the man was giving per kilo of gold? He was giving a profit of 80-100 grams per kilo of gold. So, someone giving one kilo of gold would get back one kilo in a year. But this is usury. This is interest, this is forbidden. Which gold dealer can give you this money? And what are you doing? You are giving all the money you collect from the Muslim community to this place. Let us absolutely not help associations that squander this nation's money, especially places like IDDEF and the Erenler Foundation, which have lost money in gold dealings.'
