The snow removal efforts of the Special Provincial Administration teams continue on Mount Mereto, located in the Sason district of Batman at an altitude of 2,973 meters. The challenging road-clearing operations carried out amid snow tunnels, which reach a thickness of up to 4 meters in places, were captured from the air.
Intensive efforts initiated by the Special Provincial Administration teams to erase the harsh traces of winter on the foothills of Mount Mereto, located at an altitude of 2,973 meters within the borders of Batman's Sason district, are continuing at full speed. The teams, aiming to reopen the plateau roads that have been closed to transportation for months due to heavy snowfall during the winter months, are challenging the difficult geographical conditions.
SNOW DEPTH REACHES 4 METERS
It was observed that snow depth reached 3 to 4 meters at certain points due to avalanches and strong winds affecting the region. The moments when personnel, working with giant construction machines in the high sections resembling a white wall, attempted to open roads by passing through dangerous steep slopes and massive snow tunnels drew attention.
TOUGH SHIFT CAPTURED BY DRONE CAMERA
The teams' challenging struggle in the difficult geography under meters of snow mass was recorded second by second from the air with a drone. The striking footage revealed both the harshness of the natural conditions in the region and the scale of the work carried out by the personnel.
EFFORTS CONTINUE FOR THE LAST 5 KILOMETERS
The Special Provincial Administration teams, who have cleared most of the plateau roads from snow and made them suitable for transportation, are putting intense effort into the still-unopened parts of the route. Authorities reported that work is ongoing non-stop to clear the remaining last 5 kilometers of the closed section from snow as soon as possible.
