Istanbul-based illegal drug operation: 235,000 drugs seized.

In an operation against smuggled drugs conducted by the Istanbul Police Department's Smuggling Crimes Division and coordinated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 235,328 units of medication were seized in four provinces centered in Istanbul. A total of 54 people were arrested during the operations.

In the drug trafficking operations coordinated by the Istanbul Police Department and the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, hundreds of thousands of drugs were seized.

Within the scope of the efforts carried out by the Istanbul Police Department's Smuggling Crimes Investigation Branch, in coordination with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; operations were conducted to capture individuals who procure illegal drugs, sell them without authorization, endanger public health, and cause financial damage to public institutions. During these operations, 21 individuals were apprehended, and legal proceedings were initiated against them for offenses under "Law No. 5607", "TCK 158/1e", and "TCK 187". A total of 235,328 drugs were seized during the searches.

OPERATIONS CONDUCTED IN 5 PROVINCES

In ongoing efforts, on June 21, 2026, operations were conducted in Antalya, Kocaeli, Sakarya, and Diyarbakır provinces, centered in Istanbul, to capture 34 individuals, resulting in the detention of 33 suspects, and numerous drugs were seized during the searches.

Investigations regarding the apprehended suspects related to the matter are ongoing.
