The ledger, which is stated to have historical artifact status by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, aims to be preserved and passed on to future generations.
During the liquidation processes carried out in the Judicial Custody Deposit of Ankara Courthouse, a Custody Office Criminal Evidence Ledger determined to belong to the year 1926 was identified.
WRITTEN IN OTTOMAN AND LATIN ALPHABETS
According to a statement from the Ministry of Justice, with the initiative of the Ministry, a ledger written in Ottoman and Latin alphabets, which will "shed light on the early judicial practices of the Republic," was uncovered in the Judicial Custody Deposit of Ankara Courthouse.
CARRIES THE QUALITIES OF A HISTORICAL ARTIFACT
It was determined that the ledger examined by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism "carries the qualities of a historical artifact." It was emphasized that the ledger is subject to registration and cannot be taken abroad according to the relevant legislation. The ledger, which has significant institutional memory in terms of the judicial custody archive, holds both legal and historical value.
WILL BE RESTORED TO ITS ORIGINAL STATE
The "Custody Office Criminal Evidence Ledger," produced for use by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, will be restored to its original state by paper restorers. The ledger, which contains studies related to judicial processes carried out in the early period of the Republic, aims to be preserved and passed on to future generations.
WILL BE PASSED ON TO FUTURE GENERATIONS
Speaking about the Custody Office Criminal Evidence Ledger, Mehmet Semih Demir, the Head of the Judicial Custody Office of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, stated, "During the liquidation process carried out in our warehouses as the Judicial Custody Office of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a preliminary report was prepared by the Ministry of Culture indicating that the ledger we identified belongs to the year 1926."
Indicating that the ledger is a century old, Demir stated, "As the Ministry of Justice and Ankara Courthouse, we have initiated the necessary work to pass this ledger on to future generations and have placed it under protection. Our work continues with relevant institutions, especially the Ministry of Culture and Tourism."
