Istanbul Governor Davut Gül commented on the protests that began following the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, stating, "There will be no passage for this dirty scheme! Both the pawns and the puppets will be held accountable before the judiciary."
Protests began in many cities following the detention of numerous individuals, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, as part of the investigations launched against the IMM for "corruption" and "terrorism." Istanbul Governor Davut Gül made a statement regarding the actions on his official social media account.
"BOTH PUPPETS AND PUPPETEERS WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE"
Governor Gül stated, "Those who incite our citizens and clash with our security forces are committing a clear crime. Our security forces intervene as necessary to ensure the peace of our citizens. This dirty scheme will never be allowed! Both puppets and puppeteers will be held accountable before the judiciary," he said.
343 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that 343 suspects were arrested during the actions that took place last night in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Adana, Antalya, Çanakkale, Eskişehir, Konya, and Edirne. In his statement, Minister Yerlikaya said: "343 suspects were arrested during the actions that took place last night in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Adana, Antalya, Çanakkale, Eskişehir, Konya, and Edirne, related to the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality! Those who seek to disrupt social order, threaten the peace and security of our nation, and pursue chaos and provocation will never be given the opportunity, and there will be no tolerance! Our police, who are the guarantee of our peace and security, are on duty day and night."
