The village, which has been emptied of its households for several reasons, is now referred to as the "Haunted Village". Retired teacher Hidayet Uluşan, who claims that the allegations of jinns living in the village are unfounded, said, "This village used to be a tribe of 5 households that Ertuğrul Gazi left behind when he went to Söğüt. Due to the risk of landslides, the village was moved to a different location."
The village of Kayı, located approximately 35 kilometers away from Ankara, has become silent as the people left the area due to the danger of landslides and the narrowness of the village area.
The abandoned village of Kayı, which is affiliated with Sincan district of Ankara, attracts the attention of visitors. The village, named after the Kayı tribe, one of the 24 clans of the Oghuz Turks, has become silent over time as the villagers left the area for various reasons. The writings "Haunted village" on the walls of the houses in the village draw attention, while the orphanage and various structures preserve their naturalness. The Hasan Dede Tomb in the old Kayı village, which is in ruins, still welcomes visitors.
"THE VILLAGE WAS MOVED TO A DIFFERENT PLACE DUE TO LANDSLIDE DANGER"
Hidayet Uluşan, a retired teacher, stated that the claims of jinns living in the village are baseless and said, "This village was a 5-household tribe that Ertuğrul Gazi left behind when he passed through to Söğüt. Sewage flowed into the stream passing near the village, causing a bad smell in the village. Also, the village was moved to a different place due to the danger of landslides. We couldn't find the opportunity to build houses for the new generation because the village area is narrow and limited."
"THERE ARE NO JINNS IN OUR VILLAGE"
Ahmet Demirtaş, stating that the reason for the villagers' relocation to a different place is the narrowness of the village area, said, "There are no jinns or anything like that here. It's a rumor made up to scare children. There is only the Hasan Dede Tomb here. The village moved because it couldn't expand. People got married and couldn't build houses because there was no space. There used to be an orphanage here, and the majority of the village used to work there. When the orphanage moved to another place, most of the villagers moved to the center. Unknown people enter the Kayı village. Drug users started coming. That's why they wrote on the walls of the houses in the village that there are jinns. These are baseless, there are no jinns or anything like that in our village. Our village is a village that comes from the Kayı Tribe."
