The winter tire application, which concerns millions of vehicle owners, is coming to an end. The mandatory usage that started on November 15 across Turkey will end on April 15.

MANDATORY FOR COMMERCIAL VEHICLES

Within the scope of the application carried out by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the use of winter tires has been made mandatory for commercial vehicles transporting goods and passengers between cities. Although it is not mandatory for private vehicles, it is recommended for safety reasons.

INSPECTIONS CONTINUED

During the winter tire application, inspections were carried out by the police, gendarmerie, municipal teams, and relevant institutions. Drivers who did not comply with the rule were subjected to administrative fines.

USING IN SUMMER IS RISKY

Experts warn that winter tires should not be used in the summer months. Tires produced for temperatures below 7 degrees lose performance in hot weather, reduce grip, and increase fuel consumption.
