The law amending the Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law, which includes regulations related to General Health Insurance, has been published in the Official Gazette. Accordingly, the copayment for outpatient treatment for physician and dentist consultations has increased from 2 lira to 20 lira.

The Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law, which was accepted in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on January 9 and published in the Official Gazette, includes amendments to certain laws.

FAMILY MEDICINE SERVICES WILL BE FREE

Accordingly, family medicine services will be free, except for those determined by the Ministry, including acupuncture and phytotherapy services provided outside of working hours by certified family physicians.

EXAMINATION FEE WILL BE 20 LIRA

The participation fee for outpatient treatment for physician and dentist examinations will be 20 lira. The Social Security Institution (SGK) will be authorized to reduce the participation fee for health services by up to half for those referred by primary healthcare providers.

The 5-point insurance premium discount provided for the disability, old age, and death insurance premium that private sector employers will pay to SGK will be applied as 4 points. This provision will be effective from the beginning of the month in which the law is published.

ERDOĞAN CAN EXTEND THE PERIOD UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2027

The 5-point discount on disability, old age, and death insurance premiums for workplaces in the manufacturing sector will continue until December 31, 2026. The President will be authorized to extend this period until December 31, 2027.

Those whose insurance started before December 31, 2008, with a loss of working capacity rate of 40 to 49 percent will benefit from old-age pensions with 18 years of insurance duration and 4,100 days of premium payments, while those with a rate of 50 to 59 percent will benefit with 16 years of insurance duration and 3,700 days of premium payments.
