In the investigation that revealed Ebru Koyuncu, who had been missing since 2009 and was 17 years old at the time, was murdered, her former brother-in-law Ufuk Köse (55), who confessed to the murder and was taken into custody, along with her sister F.K., were referred to the courthouse.

In the Sancaklıiğdecik neighborhood of the Şehzadeler district, Münevver Koyuncu (60) applied to the gendarmerie on October 1, 2025, around 21:00, reporting that her daughter Ebru Koyuncu had left home in December 2009 and that she had not heard from her since. It was learned that the application was made because Ebru Koyuncu needed to be included in the official records during the inheritance sharing, which was to be conducted within the family. Information was provided to the public prosecutor, and an investigation was initiated. It was determined that Ebru Koyuncu had a relationship with her ex-brother-in-law Ufuk Köse for about 3 years, that she became pregnant from this relationship, and that she disappeared after the pregnancy became known.

4 SUSPECTS DETAINED

Within the scope of the investigation, the possibility of a murder having been committed within the family was considered, and a confidentiality decision was made for the case. Based on witness statements and field studies, suspicions arose that Ebru Koyuncu may have been killed by her sister F.K. (36), her ex-brother-in-law Ufuk Köse, and her step-siblings M.K. (46) and A.K. (42). Upon the instruction of the Manisa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, F.K. in Kağızman district of Kars, Ufuk Köse and M.K. in İzmir, and A.K. in Manisa were detained on February 23 in a simultaneous operation conducted by the Manisa Provincial Gendarmerie Command JASAT and Şehzadeler District Gendarmerie Command teams.

A LARGE NUMBER OF BONE FRAGMENTS AND A SKULL FOUND

During the interrogation of the suspects, Ufuk Köse confessed to killing Ebru Koyuncu and stated that he could show the location of the body. The day before yesterday, teams from the Manisa Provincial Gendarmerie Command JASAT, Şehzadeler District Gendarmerie Command, İzmir Kemalpaşa District Gendarmerie Command, and the Kemalpaşa Crime Scene Investigation Team went to the Armutlu neighborhood of Kemalpaşa in İzmir. Following Köse's indication, a search and excavation operation was initiated in a garden starting from 11:30, where a large number of bones and skull fragments believed to belong to Ebru Koyuncu, who has been missing since 2009, were found. The bones were preserved to be sent to the Forensic Medicine Institution.

'UFUK KÖSE KILLED'

After their statements, Koyuncu's step-siblings M.K. and A.K. were released from the Manisa Provincial Gendarmerie Command, while her ex-brother-in-law Ufuk Köse and her sister F.K. were referred to the courthouse today. Among the suspects brought to the courthouse, F.K., in response to journalists' question "Who committed the murder?" answered, "Ufuk Köse killed." Ufuk Köse said, 'I regret it.' The procedures of the suspects at the courthouse are ongoing.
