Uğur Balkoca, the brother-in-law who killed Emre Bozkurt, committed suicide with the same weapon inside his vehicle, 500 meters away from the crime scene.

It was claimed that Uğur Balkoca, who shot his brother-in-law Jandarma Specialist Sergeant Emre Bozkurt with a pistol and then took his own life with the same weapon, committed the murder due to a feud that had lasted for 10 years between them. After the incident, Emre Bozkurt's relatives shed tears.

Orhan Karakoç said, "As far as I know, those involved in the incident were brothers-in-law. They had a problem between them. The shot person was a gendarmerie personnel. The attacker came here after the incident and committed suicide." Melih Arslan stated, "When we arrived at the scene in the morning, we saw that the police had closed off the area. We were not allowed to enter. We heard that there was a 10-year feud between the brothers-in-law."
