Del Burgo claimed that they continued the relationship before and after Letizia's marriage, and supported it by sharing a pregnancy photo on social media. These allegations came to the agenda with del Burgo's statements in a new book about the royalty.

The Spanish royal office refrained from making any statements about del Burgo's allegations.

Del Burgo also claimed that Spain's secret service kept him under surveillance for five years and raided his house in Switzerland.
