Fertilizers spilled from trucks onto the road while being transported from the port to warehouses in Hatay are being collected by citizens using brooms. Bestami Gül, who is collecting fertilizers in the area, said, "I collect enough for my garden, I come every 6 days to collect, but sometimes there are days when I don't find any. If I don't collect it, it will melt away when it rains, and instead of going to waste, I use it in my garden."
Fertilizers arriving at the ports located in the İskenderun Gulf by ships from abroad are transported to warehouses by trucks.
THEY ARE COLLECTING WITH A BRUSH
As the fertilizers are being transported to the warehouses by trucks, they are flying off the vehicles and spilling onto the roadway. The fertilizers, which create a white cover along the roadsides, are being swept up by local residents with the help of brushes. Bestami Gül, who collects fertilizers with a broom in the area, stated that he gathers enough fertilizer for his garden from the fertilizers spilled from the trucks.
"I AM EVALUATING IT IN MY GARDEN INSTEAD OF LETTING IT GO TO WASTE"
Bestami Gül expressed that the fertilizers transported from the port to the warehouses are spilled onto the roadway, stating that if the fertilizers are not collected, they will go to waste when it rains. "I am collecting the fertilizers spilled from the trucks for my garden. The fertilizers transported from the port by trucks spill while being taken to the warehouses, and I collect them. I gather enough for my garden, I come to collect every 6 days, but sometimes there is none at all. If I don't collect them, they will melt away when it rains, instead of going to waste, I am evaluating them in my garden," he said.
