ANNOUNCED HIS RESIGNATION ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Karaman, known for his closeness to Meral Akşener, stated in his social media announcement, "I carry the Turkish flag, which I pinned to my chest at a very young age, with the same spirit and pride in my parliamentary role as I did in my sports career. Because I have always acted solely with a sense of service and duty. The love, support, and prayers of my loved ones, whom I always feel by my side, have been my greatest source of strength on this challenging path. Their love, favor, and trust have always reinforced my goal of protecting the noble interests of the Turkish nation. With the awareness of this sacred responsibility, I have made the decision to resign from my membership in the İYİ Party as a result of my evaluations. This decision is a necessity of my will to serve my nation better," he expressed.
NUMBER OF DEPUTIES DROPPED TO 28
With Karaman's resignation, the distribution in the Parliament has also changed. After the general elections in 2023, the İYİ Party had 44 deputies. With this resignation, the number of İYİ Party deputies has decreased to 28.
ALLEGATION OF JOINING THE AK PARTY
Before Karaman, the party's spokesperson Kürşad Zorlu, known for his closeness to Meral Akşener, had also resigned. It was claimed that Zorlu would join the AK Party. In the corridors, it has started to be discussed that Ünal Karaman will also join the AK Party.
