The harvest season has begun for the registered Adilcevaz walnut, which is grown in the Adilcevaz district of Bitlis and has gained worldwide fame for its unique aroma, thin shell, and high kernel ratio.
The Adilcevaz walnut, grown in the fertile lands of Bitlis and influenced by the climate of Lake Van, is among the highest quality walnuts in Turkey. This special product, which has geographical indication registration, is harvested every year towards the end of September. The 2025 harvest has begun with the intense efforts of farmers.
PRICE PER KILO IS 600 LIRA
While walnut production is carried out in an area of approximately 25,000 decares in Adilcevaz, it is reported that this year's yield is higher compared to last year. Producers state that the walnuts, which range from 300 to 600 TL per kilo, have drawn attention with both their size and flavor due to favorable seasonal conditions.
STARTED TO BE RECOGNIZED ABROAD
The District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry has increased support programs for walnut producers thanks to the ongoing efforts. Producers, especially those looking to enter foreign markets, are hopeful about the branding of Adilcevaz walnuts.
Producer Mehmet Akkoyun stated, "Adilcevaz walnut has started to be recognized not only in our country but also abroad. We are working to brand our walnut, which stands out with its quality and flavor, to provide more income for our producers."
