Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced that new legal regulations will be made in line with the requests from lawyers, stating, "I have instructed our General Directorate of Legal Affairs and our Private Office. We will introduce attorney liability for transactions exceeding a certain amount in the 12th Judicial Package."

Minister Akın Gürlek attended the iftar program organized by the Istanbul Bar Association No. 2. Speaking at the program, Minister Gürlek announced new good news for lawyers. Minister Gürlek stated that they have started working on various legal regulations in line with the request of the Istanbul Bar Association No. 2, which visited him.

LAWYERS WILL BE MANDATORY FOR TRANSACTIONS EXCEEDING A CERTAIN AMOUNT IN THE LAND REGISTRY

Minister Gürlek noted that they have set fundamental goals for strengthening the defense in the Judiciary Reform Strategy Document. Justice Minister Gürlek said, "Some of these goals include the obligation of representation by a lawyer in certain transactions. We have also given instructions in the 12th Judicial Package, and a legal regulation will be made. Of course, if our Parliament shows a will in the same direction, we want to impose the obligation of representation by a lawyer in transactions exceeding a certain amount in the land registry. This is important for both ensuring the legal security of transactions and providing at least a small benefit to our lawyers. I have instructed our General Directorate of Legal Affairs and our Private Office Directorate on this matter. God willing, we will introduce the responsibility of lawyers in transactions exceeding a certain amount in the land registry in the 12th Judicial Package."

"THE TRIAL HAS A TRIPARTITE STRUCTURE CONSISTING OF THE PROSECUTOR, LAWYER, AND JUDGE"

In his speech, Minister Gürlek expressed his condolences to the grieving family of Teacher Fatma Nur Çelik, who lost her life in a heinous attack in Çekmeköy, stating that he is closely following the process.

Emphasizing that the foundation of property is justice and that lawyers are the main backbone of the defense, Minister Gürlek stated that lawyers are the guarantee of the right to a fair trial, saying, "The trial has a tripartite structure consisting of the prosecutor, lawyer, and judge. However, the trial activity begins only when all three come together. All three elements are equally valuable. The guarantee of judicial independence is independent lawyers. Our laws clearly state that lawyers are a founding element of the judiciary."

"WE HAVE IMPLEMENTED REFORMS THAT DIRECTLY CONCERN OUR LAWYERS IN THE LAST 24 YEARS"

Thanking lawyers for their successful contributions to alternative solutions such as reconciliation and mediation, Minister Gürlek also listed the regulations made for lawyers in the last 24 years as follows:

"In the last 24 years, we have carried out many works that directly concern our lawyers. We have implemented important legal regulations. By introducing the Bar Exam, we have qualified the profession. This exam also serves as a filter. We abolished the second education in law faculties. We eliminated the vertical transition system. By raising the success ranking for admission to faculties first to 125,000 and then to 100,000, we ensured that law faculties have both qualitative and quantitative quality. We made the necessary legal regulation for the decisions of regional appellate courts regarding crimes arising from the duties of lawyers to go to the Supreme Court in all cases. We granted our lawyers the right to a green passport. We implemented the e-hearing application. Our lawyers can easily participate in hearings via video conference from their offices or other locations."

"THESE ARE REGULATIONS THAT RESPOND TO THE REQUESTS OF OUR LAWYERS FOR YEARS"

Minister Gürlek stated that among the regulations made in the last 24 years are the expansion of UYAP integration and the reduction of VAT rates on legal services, saying, "We ensured that newly starting lawyers are not charged the bar fee for 5 years. We provided financial support for the establishment costs of offices, especially for newly starting colleagues. We have had the necessary discussions with the relevant banks on this matter. They are currently benefiting from financial support. We provided mediation opportunities for lawyers with 20 years of seniority. We only required law faculty graduates to be mediators. All these regulations were important regulations that responded to the requests of our lawyers who have been advocating for years to strengthen the defense." he said.

Minister Gürlek stated, "Our lawyers are the guarantee of the freedom to seek rights and an indispensable founding element of our justice system. Where the defense is strong, justice becomes more entrenched, and social trust increases."
