The Grand National Assembly of Turkey was tense due to the "Öcalan" debate. The verbal duel between İYİ Party Group Deputy Chairman Turhan Çömez and DEM Party's Pervin Buldan raised the tension in the session. As the discussion quickly spread to other parties, the tension in the Assembly hall peaked.
AYYÜCE TÜRKEŞ LEFT THE HALL
After Pervin Buldan's speech, MHP Group Deputy Chairman Erkan Akçay was given the floor, and a verbal altercation occurred between İYİ Party's Ayyüce Türkeş, who stood up, and Akçay.
In response to Türkeş's words, "Shame on you too," Akçay replied, "No, shame on you." Türkeş then protested and left the hall. Those moments were recorded in the Assembly's records.
MHP AND AK PARTY SUPPORT BUL DAN
Following the tension, MHP and AK Party deputies made statements of support for Pervin Buldan. MHP Group Deputy Chairman Erkan Akçay emphasized that discussions within the Assembly should be conducted within the framework of rules and stated that he did not approve of personal attacks against Buldan. Akçay said that the "Terror-free Turkey" process is a national and historical goal, that society has paid heavy prices, and that these pains should not be compared.
AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Leyla Şahin Usta also supported Buldan, arguing that discussions in the Assembly should not be allowed to turn into a "show area." Usta emphasized that deputies should respect the dignity of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and the values it represents.
