The unforgettable leading man of Yeşilçam and master of Turkish cinema, Kadir İnanır, lost his life at the age of 77 on May 14, after being hospitalized due to illness and losing his battle for life in intensive care.
Master actor Kadir İnanır passed away at the age of 77 in an Istanbul hospital where he was being treated for respiratory distress caused by pneumonia.
HE WAS INTUBATED
The master artist was rushed to the hospital on May 14 with a diagnosis of pneumonia due to an infection in his lungs. As his condition remained critical, İnanır was admitted to the intensive care unit 6 days ago, and due to increasing respiratory distress, he was controlled intubated by his doctors.
Despite all intensive medical interventions and treatment protocols carried out by specialist physicians at the hospital, it was reported that the master actor succumbed to multiple organ failure and respiratory failure.
FUNERAL PROGRAM ANNOUNCED
Following the master artist's death, the program for the funeral ceremony, which will be held with the participation of his loved ones and the art world, has also been announced. A grand memorial ceremony will first be held for Kadir İnanır at 1:00 PM at the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM). After the ceremony there, the master actor's body will be taken to the Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha Mosque in Levent. Following the funeral prayer to be performed there, İnanır will be laid to rest with prayers at the Ulus Cemetery.
HE LEFT BEHIND AN UNFORGETTABLE LEGACY
Born in 1949 as the youngest child of his family in the Fatsa district of Ordu, Kadir İnanır showcased his stage talent during primary and secondary school. After graduating from Istanbul Haydarpaşa High School and completing his education at Marmara University Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio-Television, İnanır became a finalist in the "Cinema Actor Competition" organized by Ses magazine in 1967. In 1968, he also won first place in the "Photo Novel Actor Competition" of Saklambaç newspaper.
Kadir İnanır stepped into cinema with a small role in the film "Seven Steps Later" and played his first leading role in "My Dark-Eyed Love," directed by Atıf Yılmaz, appearing opposite Türkan Şoray. He later starred in many films, notably including "The Girl with the Red Scarf," "Shame," "Relentless Road," "A Broken Love Story," "Tatar Ramazan," and "Revenge of the Snakes."
Having appeared in over 180 films and television series throughout his career, Kadir İnanır had been living a quiet life away from the spotlight with his longtime partner Jülide Kural. In 2024, İnanır was hospitalized due to a blood clot in his brain and was discharged after treatment.
