Ekmel Cönger, the suspended Mayor of Keskin who was sentenced to prison for bribery in Kırıkkale, has been replaced by an acting mayor. In the voting held at the municipal council, AK Party member Gürsel Demirel received 7 out of 9 votes and became the Acting Mayor of Keskin.
A lawsuit was filed in the 1st Heavy Penal Court with an indictment prepared by the Kırıkkale Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Keskin Mayor Ekmel Cönger and contractor Mustafa Yurtseven on charges of "bribery." At the hearing held on June 8, Cönger, who was tried without detention, was sentenced to 5 years, 2 months, and 15 days in prison, while contractor Mustafa Yurtseven was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in prison.
Ekmel Cönger ELECTION HELD AT THE MUNICIPALITY After the verdict was announced, an election for the acting mayor was held at Keskin Municipality, replacing Ekmel Cönger, who was suspended from duty by the Ministry of Interior. Among the 9 municipal council members, AK Party member Gürsel Demirel and CHP member Ayhan Şakar were candidates.
GÜRSEL DEMİREL BECAME THE ACTING MAYOR OF KESKİN As a result of a single session, Gürsel Demirel received 7 out of 9 votes and was elected as the Acting Mayor of Keskin, while CHP member Şakar received 1 vote, and 1 vote was left blank. Demirel stated in his speech after the election, "We will carry out this duty together. We will walk this path together."
Gürsel Demirel
