An Airbus A330 operated by KLM Airlines, which was taking off for the Dutch Caribbean, had its flight plans disrupted when a mouse was spotted on board. The flight was halted in Aruba for the safety of the passengers, and the aircraft was taken out of service. As a result of this incident, approximately 250 passengers were stranded in the Caribbean. It took more than 36 hours to catch the mouse.

An unexpected stowaway caused panic on a KLM Airlines Airbus A330 flight heading to the Dutch Caribbean. The sighting of a mouse on the flight from Amsterdam to Aruba and Bonaire disrupted the travel plans. The flight was halted in Aruba for the safety of the passengers, and the aircraft was taken out of service.

SUDDENLY APPEARED

According to a report first announced by RTL, a mouse was spotted climbing on the curtain rails in the cabin of the aircraft. The images caused concern among both passengers and crew, while the pilot decided to continue the flight to Aruba due to the mouse being noticed over the ocean.

PLANE TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE

After the aircraft landed in Aruba, the airline canceled the subsequent flights planned to Bonaire and Amsterdam. The Airbus A330 was taken out of service for extensive cleaning and efforts to capture the mouse. As a result, approximately 250 passengers were stranded in the Caribbean.

CAUGHT AFTER 36 HOURS

According to a report by the Telegraaf newspaper, it took more than 36 hours to catch the mouse after it was first seen. It is still unclear how the mouse got onto the plane.

PASSENGERS ENTITLED TO ACCOMMODATION AND COMPENSATION

KLM officials stated that the affected passengers were quickly re-routed and provided with accommodation in Aruba. It was noted that the affected passengers could claim compensation under European Union aviation regulations.

THIS IS NOT THE FIRST INCIDENT

Experts indicate that rodents not only pose a hygiene risk but can also cause serious malfunctions and fires by gnawing on aircraft wires.

A similar incident occurred in 2024 in the United States, where passengers on a Spirit Airlines flight from Dallas to Los Angeles reported seeing a mouse-like animal running in the overhead luggage compartment, causing panic.
