It is recommended that users carefully check the card slot and keypad before transactions due to card skimming devices and hidden cameras placed on ATMs. If any unusual attachment or suspicious setup is noticed, it is advised not to proceed with the transaction and to report the situation to the bank.
Card cloning (skimming) devices, one of the most common methods used in banking fraud, are occasionally placed on ATMs.
ALWAYS CHECK THE CARD SLOT
If the ATM's card slot looks loose, thicker than normal, or gives the impression that it has been added later, do not proceed with the transaction.
PAY ATTENTION TO THE KEYPAD
Fraudsters may place a fake keypad on the ATM to learn your password. If you notice any shifting, height difference, or looseness in the keypad, do not use the ATM.
THERE COULD BE A HIDDEN CAMERA
Small cameras placed above the screen, near the brochure holder, or around the card slot can record your password. It is recommended to cover the keypad with your hand when entering your password.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE SUSPICIOUS?
Move away from the ATM without conducting any transaction and report the situation to the bank's call center or a security guard. It may also be helpful to warn other people who might use the same ATM.
