There has been a new development regarding the health condition of Mahir Polat, the Deputy Secretary General of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), who was arrested as part of the "City Reconciliation" investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
MAHIR POLAT HAS BEEN TRANSFERRED TO THE FORENSIC MEDICINE INSTITUTE
Mahir Polat, who has been experiencing health issues since the day he was arrested, was reported by his lawyer Erkam Erdem to have been transferred to the Forensic Medicine Institute. Erdem stated, "As a result of all the processes we have experienced in the last ten days, we expect the Forensic Medicine Institute to make a decision regarding Mahir Polat today."
HIS LAWYER HAD SHARED THE BLOOD PRESSURE MONITORING CHART
Lawyer Erkam Erdem stated that Mahir Polat's health condition is not suitable for prison conditions and shared the blood pressure monitoring chart that Polat claimed to have. "I mentioned that Mahir Polat's hypertension continued after he was discharged from the hospital with additional medication. Here, I am sharing his measurements. There is not a single measurement where his blood pressure is normal. Many of them are of a nature that would require him to be readmitted to the hospital. I am reporting his condition without exaggeration and completely: his life is still at risk, and the prison conditions are continuously harming his health," Erdem said, sharing the chart as follows:
HE WAS SENT BACK TO PRISON AFTER ANGIOGRAPHY
Mahir Polat collapsed due to high blood pressure on March 29 at the Marmara Prison in Silivri, where he was being held, and was first taken to the prison infirmary and then to Silivri State Hospital. After examinations, Polat was taken back to prison but was later transferred to Mehmet Akif Ersoy Hospital due to his high blood pressure-related illness. After undergoing angiography, Mahir Polat was sent back to prison.
"HE HAS HAD ANGIOGRAPHY 4 TIMES, AND HAS 6 STENTS"
Lawyer Erdem, who made a statement regarding Polat's health condition, used the following expressions: "As you know, we presented reports regarding Mr. Mahir's health issues during the expression and interrogation phase and -while stating that the conditions for arrest were not met- requested that judicial control be applied due to his health condition if it were to be brought up, but it was rejected. Mr. Mahir has several ailments, but there are two conditions that are significant in terms of prison conditions; hypertension and blockages in the blood vessels. He has undergone angiography 4 times due to these blockages and has 6 stents. 2 of his arteries are also being monitored."
