On the 8th day of the Ramadan Bayram holiday, 604 traffic accidents occurred, resulting in the deaths of 10 people and injuries to 925 others. It was reported that during the first 8 days of the holiday, a total of 72 people lost their lives in traffic accidents, while 8,313 individuals were injured.
The 9-day Ramadan Feast holiday ends tomorrow. As holidaymakers head back, traffic accidents continue to occur. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared traffic data during the holiday.
72 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES
Minister Yerlikaya announced that 604 traffic accidents occurred on the 8th day of the holiday. In these accidents, 10 people lost their lives, and 925 people were injured. Yerlikaya stated that a total of 72 people lost their lives and 8,313 people were injured in the first 8 days of the holiday. Yerlikaya said, "Let's obey traffic rules during our return journey, and let's reach our homes safely. May our holiday joy not turn into sorrow."
594 THOUSAND VEHICLES CHECKED
In his written statement, Yerlikaya continued with the following remarks: "Throughout the holiday, our Police and Gendarmerie Traffic teams continue their inspections. On the 8th day of the holiday, Saturday, April 5, 2025, our traffic teams checked 594,122 vehicles. Speed and radar operations were conducted on 22,714 vehicles, and other operations were carried out on 41,073 vehicles. Let's not speed, buckle up, and avoid using mobile phones while driving. To prevent turning these happy days into sadness, let's be careful on the road. Roads exist to bring us together, not to separate us. I pray for God's mercy on our citizens who lost their lives and wish a speedy recovery to the injured."
