Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş responded to the claims of MHP Deputy Chairman Yaşar Yıldırım, who referred to him as the 'main suspect.' He stated that since the first day they took office, they have treated the people's trust as a matter of honor, saying, "We have protected the money of the people of Ankara as if it were our own. We invested in the real needs of the people, not in wasteful projects. We put an end to the system of rent. We eliminated the privileges granted to certain groups."
Deputy Chairman of the MHP, Yaşar Yıldırım, made a statement regarding Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş, whom he accused as the "main suspect."
Yavaş stated, "First of all, let everyone know this: Since the first day we took office, we have said that we will protect the people's trust as if it were our honor. We continue on our path with the same determination. We have protected the people's money as if it were our own. We invested in the real needs of the people, not in garbage projects," he said.
"WE PUT AN END TO THE RENTAL ORDER"
Yavaş expressed the following:
"I am carefully observing a campaign that is being deliberately conducted by certain circles in recent days. This perception operation sometimes presents itself with a headline and sometimes with what is written and drawn on social media.
First of all, let everyone know this: Since the first day we took office, we have said that we will protect the people's trust as if it were our honor. We continue on our path with the same determination.
We have protected the people's money as if it were our own. We invested in the real needs of the people, not in garbage projects. We put an end to the rental order. We abolished the privileges granted to certain groups.
We adopted the understanding of "I start from where the need is," not "I start from where the most votes were given." We continue to broadcast tenders live, share our Court of Accounts reports with the public, and publish our council sessions transparently.
We explain our budget item by item to the citizens of Ankara. Thanks to our policies of transparency, fighting corruption, and financial discipline, we have received international awards and have become a municipality that is cited as an example in Turkey with our financial reliability ratings.
"PERCEPTION OPERATION"
"Now, an attempt is being made to conduct a perception operation through ongoing judicial processes. Since April 2019, more than 100 complaints have been made against me. In the majority of these files, my statement has not even been taken. I have two files at the Council of State: One is due to our stance against zoning rent in the Dodurga region, and the other is based on the claim that I did not fulfill my supervisory duty within the process known to the public as the 'concert investigation.'
During my term, I was the one who initiated internal audits at the slightest allegation and took the file to the prosecutor's office. I did not turn a blind eye to wrongdoing, even during my own term, and I will not. I have no doubt about myself. Because I have nothing to hide.
I state clearly: I received my authority from the Turkish Nation. The people of Ankara showed their satisfaction by voting over 60%. The reason is the projects I implemented that touch the public and my transparency. While this is the case, no one can make us a pawn in political operations and discrediting efforts.
Our foundation is neither position nor power. Our foundation is the conscience of our nation. It is the prayer of a mother who can cook dinner for her child in the evening. It is the peace of a father who can meet the needs of his home. It is the hope of a farmer who sows seeds in the soil with the sweat of his brow. It is the hot soup that a student drinks. It is the joy of a patient whose debt is said to be cleared at the pharmacy.
No pressure, no accusation, no political calculation can deter us from the path we believe is right. Those who create perceptions today should not forget this: Justice will one day be needed by everyone."
WHAT HAPPENED?
Deputy Chairman of the MHP, Yaşar Yıldırım, targeted Mansur Yavaş at the Turkish Education Sen congress yesterday. Referring to the resignation of Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan from the CHP, MHP Deputy Chairman Yaşar Yıldırım claimed that the main suspect in the relevant files is Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş. CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir responded to Yıldırım's statements, saying, "You are trying to present the political operations you carry out through the judiciary as an internal reckoning within the CHP. You had Ekrem İmamoğlu arrested, and now you are targeting Mansur Yavaş. The CHP is one and whole and stands behind all its comrades," he stated.
