CHP's 38th Ordinary Istanbul Provincial Congress elected Özgür Çelik as the chairman, but he and his administration were dismissed by the decision of the 45th Civil Court of First Instance. Following this decision, tensions began in the Istanbul Provincial Presidency after Gürsel Tekin announced that he would go to the provincial building.

THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE IMPOSED A PROTEST BAN

The Istanbul Governor's Office imposed a protest ban for three days in six districts following the CHP's calls; police teams took security measures in front of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Headquarters. Tensions occasionally arose between party members and the police.

RESPONSE FROM MANSUR YAVAŞ

The Mayor of Ankara, Mansur Yavaş, reacted to the events between the police and CHP members in front of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Headquarters.

"WHAT DECISION CAN JUSTIFY THIS?"

Yavaş, who reacted to the government, asked, "What justification can there be for our party members not being allowed into the provincial headquarters, which is our party building? What decision can be the basis for this?"

Mansur Yavaş continued his remarks as follows:

"I will not stop saying this: Democracy gains meaning only with the rule of law and the protection of fundamental rights. The principle of the rule of law requires all organs of the state to act in a manner free from arbitrariness, bound by the constitution and laws.

In a true democracy; the judiciary is independent, the press is free, and citizens' rights are inviolable. It should not be forgotten that without the rule of law, there can be no democracy, and without democracy, there can be no rule of law. Unfortunately, Turkey is rapidly moving away from this universal image. Justice is needed by everyone without exception; let us not forget!"
