Marmaris Municipality, which is among the municipalities with the highest income in Turkey, has put 4 properties up for sale. The municipality has put a residential property and 3 plots of land for sale, with an estimated value of 174 million 900 thousand TL, and the local community is reacting negatively.
One of Turkey's important tourism centers, Marmaris Municipality, has put some of its real estate up for sale, citing economic conditions, despite having a significantly high income compared to similar municipalities. It was announced that four properties with an estimated value of 174 million 900 thousand TL will be sold at auction on April 9.
In a statement regarding the matter, Marmaris Municipality indicated that the sale would be conducted in accordance with the decision of the Municipal Council and Article 36 of the State Tender Law No. 2886.
CITIZENS ARE REACTING
While the sale of the municipality's most valuable assets has been met with backlash from the local community, it was announced that on April 9, a residence in the Camiavlu neighborhood belonging to the municipality will be sold for 5 million 900 thousand TL, a 1278.98 square meter land in the İçmeler neighborhood for 69 million TL, a 230 square meter land in the Kemeraltı neighborhood for 70 million TL, and an 800 square meter land in the Tepe neighborhood for an estimated value of 30 million TL.
"LAND WORTH 95 MILLION TL REDUCED TO 69 MILLION TL"
Some citizens reacting to the situation called on Marmaris Mayor Acar Ünlü to protect the public's property, stating, "The primary duty of a municipality is to protect the public's property, not to sell it. A public land in İçmeler was previously put up for sale for 95 million TL. Now, the 1278.98 square meter land has been reduced to 69 million. This is not a discount; it is a blatant violation of the rights of those living in İçmeler," they expressed.
