The law extending women's maternity leave from 16 weeks to 24 weeks has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force.
The regulation increasing the maternity leave period for female employees from 16 weeks to 24 weeks has been published in the Official Gazette and officially entered into force. With the new law, mothers will have the right to use paid leave for a total of approximately 6 months before and after childbirth.
MATERNITY LEAVE FOR WORKING WOMEN EXTENDED
It was stated that this step was taken to protect the family integrity of working women and to allow babies to spend more time with their mothers during their development process.
A female civil servant who certifies with a medical report that her health condition is suitable for work may, upon her request, transfer a portion of her pre-birth leave period to the postnatal period. Within this scope, the time that can be worked before childbirth may be reduced to up to two weeks.
