Florida Representative Matt Gaetz, nominated by Trump for Attorney General, announced that he is stepping back from the candidacy. Gaetz stated, "We don't have time to waste on an unnecessary drawn-out struggle in Washington, so I am withdrawing from the Attorney General candidacy. Trump's Attorney General should be in place and ready on day one of his administration," he said. "I APPRECIATE IT"Following Gaetz's decision to withdraw, Trump stated, "I appreciate Matt Gaetz's recent efforts to be confirmed as Attorney General. He was doing very well, but at the same time, he did not want to distract from the administration he respects so much. A great future awaits Matt, and I look forward to seeing all the wonderful things he will do," he said. Gaetz's announcement of his withdrawal came after the House Ethics Committee became stalled in releasing a report regarding allegations of sexual misconduct and illegal drug use against Gaetz.
