Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Organized Crimes Investigation Bureau, Melih Gökçek came to the Ankara Courthouse to give a statement as a suspect. It did not escape attention that Gökçek entered the courthouse chewing gum.
Melih Gökçek, the former mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, arrived at the courthouse to testify as a suspect within the scope of the investigation initiated last week ex officio by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office over allegations that unregistered money was transferred to companies abroad. It was noteworthy that Gökçek, who was greeted by a press corps in front of the courthouse, entered chewing gum.
AĞIREL WAS HEARD AS A WITNESS
Journalist Murat Ağırel, who brought the allegations to the agenda, testified to the prosecutor's office as a witness on Monday. In his reports, Ağırel claimed that Melih Gökçek's wife Hülya Gökçek and son Ahmet Gökçek own a company named "Hamag" based in Düsseldorf, Germany, and that this company, established with zero turnover and employees, attempted to purchase shopping malls and real estate worth millions of euros in a short time.
GÖKÇEK: I HAVE NO ACCOUNT I CANNOT GIVE
Melih Gökçek, who had previously categorically denied the allegations against him, stated, "With God's permission, I have no account I cannot give. I will provide the necessary information to the prosecutor's office. I am surrendering myself to Turkish justice."
