In a video he shared on social media, he presented images of criminals in the high-security CECOT prison to his followers and stated, "A well-managed prison system is the necessary first step to transform a hellish environment into a safe, reliable community."

The images featured criminals associated with drug gangs in the country as well as immigrants sent from the U.S., while Bukele reiterated his message of toughness in the fight against crime.
Bukele stated, "They say that a prison sentence is not enough to escape crime. However, a strong police force and a strict, well-managed prison system are the necessary first steps to transform a hellish environment into a safe, reliable community."

Bukele's post was also shared by billionaire businessman Elon Musk, who commented, "This is the only way," offering support to the Salvadoran leader in his struggle.
