President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated, "Çanakkale is not only a war but a unique epic where faith, sacrifice, love of the homeland, and the consciousness of being a nation are declared to the whole world."

President Erdoğan, in his message published on the occasion of the Martyrs' Day on March 18 and the 111th anniversary of the Gallipoli Naval Victory, stated that the anniversary of the Gallipoli Victory, one of the most glorious epics of the nation, is commemorated with great pride and excitement.

Remembering the heroes who made Gallipoli impassable with mercy, gratitude, and appreciation, Erdoğan said, "Gallipoli is not only an epic of a battle but also a unique epic where faith, sacrifice, love of the homeland, and the consciousness of being a nation are declared to the whole world. The struggle of the faith-filled chests in Gallipoli has been a sign that our nation will never give up its freedom and independence and has become a historical turning point."

"THE FATE OF OPPRESSED NATIONS HAS CHANGED"

Recalling that the heroes who rushed to the front to defend the homeland came from all corners of Anatolia, and that the nation stood as one heart, with its women, men, young, and old, defending the homeland at the cost of their lives, Erdoğan noted in his message:

"This great resistance put forth by our ancestors has changed the fate not only of our homeland but also of the oppressed nations living under oppression all around the world. The heroism displayed in Gallipoli is one of the strongest symbols of our nation's brotherhood, solidarity, and common destiny. Today, we draw strength from this blessed heritage left to us by our ancestors as we walk towards our goals for the Century of Turkey with the same spirit and determination."

"THE SPIRIT OF GALLIPOLI IS OUR SOURCE OF INSPIRATION"

The spirit of Gallipoli will continue to be our greatest source of inspiration against all kinds of threats directed at the unity and solidarity of our nation. We will continue to work with all our might to carry this sacred homeland, which is the legacy of our martyrs, to stronger, more prosperous, and safer tomorrows. With these thoughts, on the anniversary of the Martyrs' Day on March 18 and the Gallipoli Victory, I commemorate all our Gallipoli heroes, our dear martyrs, and veterans, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal, with mercy, gratitude, and appreciation. May their souls be blessed, and their places be paradise."
