The tragedy that occurred on the holiday day is heartbreaking, and the cause of the fire has been determined. The headman of Gaziler Neighborhood in the Kepez district, Süleyman Kaplan, said, "They lit a barbecue in the evening and did not extinguish the fire."
In the Kepez district of Antalya, a fire broke out late at night, resulting in the deaths of a foreign national family, including a 7-month pregnant mother and her 5 children. Four others were injured. Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin announced that three people were detained in connection with the incident, and the cause of the fire has also been determined.
FLAMES GREW RAPIDLY The fire occurred around 2:00 AM in a prefabricated structure where a family of greenhouse workers lived on Gaziler 310 Street in Antalya's Kepez district. According to information obtained, the fire broke out in the prefabricated structure used as a residence in the area where the greenhouses are located, for reasons yet to be determined. Upon noticing the fire, neighbors reported it to the 112 Emergency Call Center, and a large number of firefighters, gendarmerie, and health teams were dispatched to the scene. Meanwhile, residents in nearby homes attempted to intervene in the fire with their own means. However, due to the flames quickly engulfing the prefabricated structure, the residents' efforts were insufficient.
5 CHILDREN AND THEIR MOTHER LOST THEIR LIVES During the fire, four members of the foreign national family inside were rescued with the help of residents, while teams from the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, who arrived at the scene, worked hard to prevent the flames from spreading to other nearby structures. After long efforts by the firefighters, the fire was completely extinguished in the early morning hours. After the fire was extinguished, the tragedy came to light. It was determined that 6 people, including 5 children from the same family, lost their lives. Leyle Elali (26), Muna Ahmed (9), Hayat Ahmed (7), Iman Ahmed (5), Fatma Ahmed (8), and Mahmut Ahmed (4) lost their lives. Shavvah Ahmed (29), Mahmut Ahmed (53), and Ahmet Ahmed (4), who were affected by the smoke, along with the business owner Rahman Genç, were taken to the hospital after initial interventions at the scene. The bodies of those who lost their lives in the fire were taken to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute morgue.
GOVERNOR ŞAHİN: 3 PEOPLE DETAINED The Gendarmerie Crime Scene Investigation teams conducted an investigation into the cause of the fire in the prefabricated structure where the fire broke out. Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin, who came to the fire area to conduct inspections after the incident, stated, "Unfortunately, we experienced a very disastrous event tonight. Antalya residents woke up to sad news on the morning of the holiday. A fire broke out around 2:00 AM in the containers where greenhouse workers lived, the cause of which we have not yet determined. Three containers caught fire, and here, a mother and her 5 children, aged 4 to 9, lost their lives. I pray for all of them. There are 5 injured, one of whom is in critical condition. The others are in good condition. Three people have been detained in connection with the incident. The investigation is ongoing. The injured are being treated in three different hospitals. One person in critical condition is intubated, and the others are in good condition. We are investigating the cause of the fire, but there is a stove and a grill. It seems they went to bed without extinguishing it. However, we cannot definitively say that this is the cause at this moment. Our fire department is conducting a detailed investigation. Our public prosecutor has initiated a judicial investigation. The process is ongoing and will be clarified after the technical examination," he said.

It was a container where Syrian citizens lived. Unfortunately, 5 children and their mother passed away. The mother was pregnant. The children's father was also injured and is in intensive care. They were agricultural workers. They had a grill lit from the night before and did not extinguish the fire. This is what we heard. As 5-6 headmen, we previously requested the establishment of a station here, but we did not receive a positive response. We requested a fire truck for the area because the fire truck arrives late due to the distance. There is also an empty center. Our benefactors can also make donations. We urgently want a station," he said.
