As cool and rainy weather increases its impact across Turkey, the General Directorate of Meteorology has issued yellow and orange coded warnings for 26 provinces. Orange codes were issued for Samsun and Ordu, and it was stated that precipitation could reach 100 kilograms per square meter in some regions. Citizens were asked to be cautious against floods, waterlogging, lightning, landslides, and disruptions in transportation.
Following the hot air wave coming from Africa and the Basra region, cool and rainy weather has begun to take effect across Turkey. With the first rains of the season, a significant drop in air temperatures has also been observed. The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued yellow and orange coded warnings for 26 provinces where heavy rainfall is expected.
YELLOW CODE FOR 24 PROVINCES, ORANGE CODE FOR 2
The Meteorology Department issued yellow coded heavy rain warnings for Adana, Amasya, Antalya, Bitlis, Burdur, Denizli, Giresun, Hakkari, Hatay, Isparta, Mersin, Kayseri, Konya, Muğla, Nevşehir, Niğde, Siirt, Sivas, Tokat, Van, Yozgat, Aksaray, Karaman, and Şırnak. An orange coded warning, indicating a higher risk level, was issued for Samsun and Ordu. Rainfall is expected to be more severe, especially around Samsun, Sinop, Amasya, Tokat, and Ordu.
100 KILOGRAMS OF RAINFALL PER SQUARE METER EXPECTED
According to the latest assessments from the Meteorology Department, the showers and thunderstorms in the Central Black Sea region are expected to become strong from the night hours onward around Samsun, Ordu, and Giresun, as well as in the northern parts of Amasya and Tokat.
In these regions, rainfall amounts are estimated to reach 25-60 kilograms per square meter, and 51-100 kilograms per square meter in the eastern parts of Samsun and the western parts of Ordu.
While the rains are expected to continue until tomorrow evening, caution has been advised against risks such as floods, waterlogging, lightning, landslides, and disruptions in transportation.
RAIN TO CONTINUE IN ISTANBUL
In Istanbul, rain is expected to continue during the daytime and diminish in intensity by the evening hours. In the city, where strong winds will also be effective, temperatures are expected to hover around 24-25 degrees Celsius.
Intermittent rain is expected in Ankara and Bursa, with temperatures forecast to be around 25 degrees Celsius. In Izmir, with strong winds, temperatures are expected to drop to up to 32 degrees Celsius.
TEMPERATURES TO DROP BY 6 DEGREES AT ONCE IN THE AEGEAN
In the Marmara region, rains are expected to continue moderately during the day and lighten in the evening. On Sunday, the weather is expected to clear in the region.
Due to the strengthening northeasterly wind (poyraz) in the Aegean, the felt temperature is expected to drop by 6 degrees at once. Temperatures will measure 30 degrees in Manisa, 33 in Denizli, and 31 in Bodrum.
In Central Anatolia, especially around Sivas, Kayseri, and Niğde, rainfall is expected to intensify, while temperatures will drop to 23-24 degrees Celsius.
THUNDERSTORMS IN THE MEDITERRANEAN
In the Mediterranean, strong thunderstorms are expected along Adana, Mersin, and Hatay. Winds in the region are also forecast to be strong.
In Eastern Anatolia, rainfall is expected to strengthen around Erzincan, Kars, and Ardahan, while rain will also be seen around Gaziantep and Adıyaman in the Southeast.
The Meteorology Department also reported that dust transport is expected in the southeast of Eastern Anatolia and the Southeastern Anatolia region.
