Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi announced that they are preparing a new regulation regarding sound systems and multimedia modifications made to vehicles after purchase. Aiming to enhance driving safety, this regulation is planned to come into effect by the end of May at the latest.
THE MAIN CRITERION IS NOT WATCHING VIDEOS WHILE DRIVING
The Ministry of Interior is preparing a new regulation by the end of April to eliminate the uncertainty in inspections regarding multimedia screens and sound systems in vehicles. During this transition period, it was stated that fines imposed for aftermarket screens will be cancelled and only warnings will be given to drivers, while the main criteria are ensuring that the field of view is not obstructed and that videos are not watched while driving.
For sound systems, while fines of 3,000 TL for excessive and disturbing installations will remain in place, equipment that complies with standards will be allowed. With the new regulation, technical standards and installation criteria for aftermarket devices will be clarified, aiming to conduct inspections more strictly within these rules.
