While the miners' protest that has been ongoing for days in Ankara and the police intervention remain a topic of debate, new developments have emerged in the process that draw attention. It was reported that Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi gave instructions to ease the intervention and that the employer he consulted regarding payments agreed to the payments, saying 'OK.'

A critical development occurred in the process concerning 110 miners who have been protesting in Ankara for some time to receive their rights. Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi met with the Ankara Police Chief to get information about police interventions on the ground. It was also learned that Çiftçi directly contacted mining operator Sabahattin Yıldız.

Hürriyet columnist Ahmet Hakan stated that he discussed the situation of workers from Doruk Mining, part of Yıldızlar SSS Holding, with Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi. Hakan said, “The remaining part of the miners’ receivables is being paid this morning. The money is being deposited into the miners’ accounts. The boss has given his word...”

ORDER FOR ‘SOFTENING’ POLICE INTERVENTION

Ahmet Hakan reported that he also asked Minister Çiftçi about the police intervention, writing that it was assessed that illegal marginal groups had infiltrated the protest area. He stated that Çiftçi gave the police the instruction, “Separate the provocateurs, but treat the workers with extreme care and as tolerantly as possible.”

MINISTER ÇİFTÇİ STEPPED IN

Minister Mustafa Çiftçi also intervened regarding the payment of workers’ receivables. It was stated that Çiftçi, who met with Sabahattin Yıldız, the owner of Yıldızlar SSS Holding, urged “Pay the workers’ receivables, let this protest end,” and that this call received a positive response.

REMAINING PAYMENT TO BE DEPOSITED INTO ACCOUNTS

It was reported that the company had previously paid 36 million lira of the workers’ receivables, and the remaining amount would be deposited into the workers’ accounts as of this morning. While the payment process is said to be closely monitored by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the protest is expected to end following this development.
