The Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, stated that expectations of being affected by inflation have increased slightly in February and that he anticipates the expectations of the real sector and households will improve rapidly alongside the decline in inflation.

The Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, reported that the household expectations, which are more affected by inflation, have increased slightly in February, stating, "While the market expectation is in line with our inflation target, we anticipate that the high levels of real sector and household expectations will improve rapidly with the continued decline in inflation." Şimşek made this statement while evaluating the Sectoral Inflation Expectations published by the Central Bank for February on his social media account.

"HOUSEHOLD EXPECTATIONS WILL IMPROVE"

Pointing out that the inflation expectation of the real sector, which is important in pricing behavior, has decreased by 1.9 points monthly for 12 months ahead and improved by 14 points compared to May of last year, reaching 41.9%, Şimşek noted: "Especially, the household expectation, which is more affected by past inflation, increased slightly in February. While the market expectation is in line with our inflation target, we anticipate that the high levels of real sector and household expectations will improve rapidly with the continued decline in inflation."
