The Minister of Treasury and Finance, Şimşek, stated, "To mitigate the impact of the oil price shock, we are temporarily implementing the escalator system, covering up to 75% of the fuel price increases with taxes."
As a result of Israel's attack on Iran, the rising oil prices have led to an increase in fuel prices, prompting measures to prevent citizens from being adversely affected. To curb the increase in fuel prices due to geopolitical developments, the temporary escalator mobile system has been activated. With this system, when fuel prices rise, a tax reduction will be applied. The Presidential Decision on the matter has been published in the Official Gazette.
"THE ESCALATOR MOBILE SYSTEM HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY ACTIVATED TO MITIGATE THE IMPACT OF THE OIL PRICE SHOCK"
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek made the following assessment on his social media account regarding the escalator mobile system that was implemented today:
"In order to limit the impact of geopolitical developments on the economy, we have taken an important step prioritizing disinflation as public finance. To mitigate the effects of the temporary oil price shock, we are temporarily activating the escalator mobile system, covering up to 75% of the price increases in fuel through taxes.
"CONTINUING TO SUPPORT DISINFLATION"
We will continue to support disinflation without compromising fiscal discipline."
