The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, İbrahim Yumaklı, commented on the fire that broke out in the Buca district of İzmir, saying, "It’s as if we never warned anyone or explained how dangerous it is; a spark from a welding machine in a factory ignited the trash, and from the trash, it spread to the forest. Unfortunately, a fire has developed near residential areas. We have been fighting this for almost 10 days; how else can we explain this?"
The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, İbrahim Yumaklı, shared the latest information regarding the ongoing forest fires across Turkey.
HE PROTESTED THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE IN BUCA
Minister Yumaklı stated that the fire in the Buca district of İzmir originated from welding operations in a factory, saying, "In Buca, it seems as if we have never warned anyone, as if we have not explained how dangerous it is; a spark from a welding machine in a factory ignited the trash, and from the trash, it spread to the forest. Unfortunately, a fire has formed that is approaching residential areas. A struggle has been ongoing for almost 10 days; how else can we explain this?"
"EVERYONE SHOULD STAND TOGETHER"
Yumaklı invited all citizens to be sensitive and continued his remarks as follows: "There is wind, there is high heat, and it is in İzmir. For days, almost for 10 days, there has been a struggle here, including both large and small fires, but how else can we explain this? I leave it to the public's judgment. We want all our citizens not only to be sensitive themselves but also to warn those who show indifference around them. This is a societal issue. Everyone should stand together. If we had known that they would be welding there, we would have intervened. How can we know what 86 million people are doing where?"
"IF THERE HAD BEEN NO INDIFFERENCE IN BUCA, WE COULD HAVE GIVEN GOOD NEWS ABOUT THE ÖDEMİŞ FIRE"
All 86 million citizens of Turkey should support this struggle. We will green every square meter that has burned. In the coming days, there are warnings for low humidity and high temperatures again. Please do not light fires outside. Everything we see on our screens today started from a spark. If there had been no indifference in Buca today, we could have given you good news about the Ödemiş fire. But our forces have been divided, and we are tired. We are on alert until October 15. Please let’s spend this week without causing any fires outside.
