In the Indian state of Maharashtra, 19 people have died in floods, landslides, and building collapses caused by monsoon rains. While fatalities occurred in the cities of Mumbai and Pune, a red alert has been issued, transportation has been paralyzed, and flights have been cancelled.

Floods, landslides, and building collapses caused by monsoon rains in India's Maharashtra state have killed 19 people.

Monsoon rains in India's Maharashtra state have paralyzed life. Many people have died in floods, landslides, and building collapses caused by heavy rains. In Mumbai, a city in the state, six people, including five children, died in a building collapse, and eight others died in separate rain-related incidents. Two people also lost their lives when two trees fell in the city as heavy rains continued. In Pune, a landslide occurred, and the bodies of three people were recovered.

RED ALERT ISSUED

Heavy rains have submerged roads and forced schools to close. The rains have paralyzed road, rail, and air transportation. India's Meteorological Department has issued a "red alert" due to expectations of heavy rain over the next two days; authorities have warned citizens to stay home and avoid all non-essential travel.

FLIGHTS DISRUPTED

At Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, 17 flights were canceled and 217 flights in both directions were delayed as of 11:30 local time today.
