Renovation work continues at the 33,000-capacity Diyarbakır Stadium, where Super League's new team Amedspor plays its home matches. While the stadium's pitch is being renewed with a hybrid grass system, the turnstile system, VIP stands, and fan entry and exit areas are also being adapted to meet Super League standards.
Preparations for the new season continue at the 33,000-capacity Diyarbakır Stadium, which will host the home matches of Amed Sportif Faaliyetler competing in the Süper Lig.
AMEDSPOR'S STADIUM RENOVATED FROM SCRATCH As part of the work, the pitch surface was renewed and transformed into a hybrid grass system. New sand and seeds were spread to make the surface healthier, while the cooling system is actively used. At the stadium, the number of turnstiles has been increased to facilitate smoother entry and exit for fans, and evacuation areas are being reorganized. The away stand has been relocated to a different section, while capacity increase and seat renewal works are underway in the VIP tribune. At the stadium, where maintenance and renewal works on elevators are carried out, the necessary permits for increasing the number of lounges are awaited. In the stadium, where broken seats have been replaced, the spectator capacity of 33,000 will not be increased due to the existing structure. The Diyarbakır Stadium, meeting UEFA standards, is aimed to be ready before the Süper Lig matches.
PROVINCIAL DIRECTOR OF YOUTH AND SPORTS ÖZTEKİN: 'THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH OUR PITCH' Stating that the stadium pitch has been improved, Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Cenk Öztekin said, “We now have a team in the Süper Lig. We congratulate Amedspor once again for promoting to the Süper Lig. We also tried to bring our preparations up to Süper Lig standards. Therefore, the pitch is very important. We carried out a renovation work on the pitch, removed the sand up to the hybrid grass level, and new sand and new seeds were spread. We made it better so that the pitch can be more beautiful and playable again. Currently, since it is very hot, the cooling system is actively working. We are installing a shading system on it and preparing the pitch for the Süper Lig again. There is no issue with our pitch. Our grass has started to turn green again, and our work on the pitch is complete.”
'WE ARE RELOCATING THE AWAY STAND' Stating that they are relocating the away stand, Öztekin said, “We previously had problems with the stadium entry and exit. We increased the number of turnstiles for entry and exit. We are also increasing the number of evacuation exits. We are consulting with the security forces. In consultation with the TFF, we are relocating the away stand. We are moving the away stand to the opposite side. That is, from the Southeast to the Northwest. We also made changes in the VIP tribune. We are increasing it. We are changing the seats. We are continuing our work in consultation with Amedspor Club. We are waiting for the necessary permits for the lounges. When the necessary permits arrive, we plan to increase the number of lounges. They will watch the matches in a more comfortable and better environment. Renewal works have also been carried out on the elevators. We especially invite all Diyarbakır residents to Amedspor's first match. We already have a stadium meeting UEFA standards. But we are trying to turn it into a stadium that will provide a more playable and better viewing experience in the Süper Lig.”
'THE NUMBER OF SEATS WILL REMAIN THE SAME' Stating that there are requests to increase the stadium capacity but that this is not possible due to the existing structure, Öztekin noted the following:
“We have many broken seats. Renewal works continue. At the same time, our fans are requesting an increase in the number of seats. Unfortunately, the number of seats depends on the size of this stadium, and since there is no place to put them, the number of seats will remain the same. We have no work regarding that. We cannot do it. With the start of the new season, I wish success first to Amedspor Club and to all the clubs we will host here. I wish them a good and injury-free season.”
