Murat Övüç, who was arrested on charges of "publicly inciting hatred and hostility" due to a post he made on social media, appeared before the judge for the second time. The court decided to release Övüç under the conditions of a signature requirement and a travel ban abroad, taking into account the evidence in the case and the duration of his detention, while postponing the hearing to a later date for the completion of missing documents.

Murat Övüç, who was investigated due to a post he made on social media and arrested for the crime of 'Publicly inciting hatred and enmity', appeared before the judge for the second time. The court decided to release the defendant Övüç under the measures of 'Signature' and 'Travel ban'.

Following the circulation of a video in which social media phenomenon Murat Övüç wore a headscarf, an investigation was initiated by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident. Övüç was arrested for the crime of 'Publicly inciting hatred and enmity'. The detained defendant Murat Övüç connected to the hearing held at the Küçükçekmece 5th Criminal Court of First Instance via the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS). The defendant Övüç's lawyer was also present in the courtroom.

"I REQUEST MY RELEASE AND ACQUITTAL"

The court stated that there was no incitement in the file, and that the court had requested the examination of previously opened case files against the defendant, noting that some documents had not arrived. Taking the floor, defendant Övüç said, "I am reiterating my previous defenses. I request my release and acquittal." The public prosecutor requested that the missing issues in the case file be resolved and that considering the duration of the defendant's detention and the evidence situation, he be released under the condition of judicial control.

HEARING ADJOURNED

Announcing its interim decision, the court decided to release the defendant Murat Övüç under the measures of 'Signature' and 'Travel ban'. The court adjourned the hearing to resolve the missing issues.
