Murder in Batman from 5 years ago solved: 5 people arrested

The murder case that occurred in the rural area of Karatepe village, affiliated with Batman's Beşiri district, on April 20, 2021, and had remained unsolved for years, was resolved as a result of a comprehensive investigation carried out by the Batman Provincial Gendarmerie Command. Five suspects involved in the incident were arrested and sent to prison.

The murder of Mehmet Şirin Çelik, who was killed while grazing animals in the Beşiri district of Batman in 2021, was solved through the meticulous work of the gendarmerie. During the operation, 11 suspects were caught, and 5 of them were arrested.

OPERATION CONDUCTED AFTER 5 YEARS

According to the information obtained, as a result of the meticulous investigations carried out by the gendarmerie teams regarding the death of Mehmet Şirin Çelik, who lost his life after being shot with a firearm while grazing his animals, the suspects of the incident were identified. Within the scope of the investigation, simultaneous operations were conducted in the provinces of Batman and Van on June 12, 2026.

5 OF 11 SUSPECTS ARRESTED

A total of 11 suspects were caught and taken into custody during the operations. After the completion of their procedures at the gendarmerie, the suspects were referred to the courthouse, and 5 of them were arrested by the court they were brought before and sent to Batman Closed Prison.

A judicial control decision was made for 2 of the suspects, while 4 individuals were released without any measures being applied.

Authorities stated that efforts to ensure public order and bring criminals before justice will be pursued with determination.
