ANSWERS WERE GIVEN TO QUESTIONS FROM HABERLER.COM
The press launch continued with questions from journalists. Behiye Teymur, a member of the Board of Directors of Haberler.com, pointed out that one of the biggest reasons for inflation is the increase in housing rents and asked whether MÜSİAD has any work on this issue. MÜSİAD President Mahmut Asmalı responded: "It is true that there has been an upward trend after the 25% restriction was lifted. However, housing supply needs to increase. Efforts are ongoing to solve this issue in collaboration with the economic management."
Haberler.com reporter Muhammed Fatih İnce asked about the closing gap between the Central Bank's inflation expectations and its impact on the market. Asmalı evaluated this situation with the following words: "This is very important. Expectations play a significant role, and they need to be managed. This perception is gradually changing, especially the government's decisive stance in economic management is quite determining at this point."
SECTORAL DEVELOPMENTS AND FORECASTS
In an interview with Haberler.com reporter Dilşad Özcan, Asmalı shared his views on MÜSİAD's sector reports and Turkey's economic goals, stating: "MÜSİAD is a 35-year-old institution, and today we presented our reports on 17 sectors to the public. We are doing our best for Turkey to develop and reach the level of high-income countries. We have 99 different overseas branches and representatives in many cities of Turkey. By evaluating the information coming from the field, we develop solutions for the development of our country. With the reports we have prepared, we offer solutions to the problems faced by the sectors and analyze the trends that await us in the future."
"THE DEFENSE INDUSTRY HAS EXCEEDED 1 BILLION DOLLARS IN REVENUE"
Asmalı also touched upon the defense industry report, stating that the sector closed the year by exceeding 1 billion dollars in revenue and still has significant growth potential. He emphasized that serious progress will also be made in the energy and digital transformation sectors, stating that Turkey offers opportunities in many sectors thanks to its flexible production capacity.
Asmalı highlighted the importance of focusing on innovative and high value-added products, saying: "The era of doing ordinary business and achieving high profits is over. It is now necessary to develop different, innovative, and innovative products and to pay more attention to branding. All these issues are addressed in detail in our reports."
Asmalı, who also made evaluations about employment data, stated that the recently announced data is positive, adding: "The expected increase in the unemployment rate did not occur. Employment in the service sector has increased, but it is not enough for Turkey to focus only on the entertainment and service sector. Our youth need to be directed more towards production and technology."
