Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 110 people were arrested in narcotics operations conducted by the Gendarmerie in 29 provinces. During the operations, 1 ton and 628 kilograms of drugs and 750,238 drug pills were seized.
In narcotic operations organized by the Gendarmerie in 29 provinces, 110 people have been arrested over the past two weeks.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared information about the ongoing operations in 29 provinces by the Gendarmerie on his social media account.
MINISTER YERLİKAYA: WE WILL CONTINUE TO FIGHT AGAINST DRUG TRAFFICKERS FOR THE SAKE OF OUR COUNTRY AND HUMANITY
Minister Yerlikaya stated: "We seized 1 ton 628 kilograms of narcotic substances and 750 thousand 238 narcotic pills, preventing their distribution to people and harming public health. We apprehended 345 suspects. 110 have been arrested. Judicial control measures have been applied to 59. The procedures for the others are ongoing. In coordination with our Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices and the Gendarmerie Narcotic Crimes Combat Department, operations were carried out by Provincial Gendarmerie Commands with the participation of 2,430 narcotic and public order teams and 6,075 personnel in Antalya, Denizli, Aydın, Istanbul, Mardin, Diyarbakır, Van, Şanlıurfa, Tekirdağ, Çorum, Adana, Ağrı, Gaziantep, Kocaeli, Kırıkkale, Hakkari, Manisa, Ordu, Düzce, Isparta, Kayseri, Sakarya, Samsun, Afyonkarahisar, Malatya, Hatay, Ankara, Kastamonu, and Aksaray. Drugs are humanity's greatest enemy. We will continue to fight against those drug traffickers who dare to steal the lives of our youth, for the sake of our country and humanity."
