In the World Taekwondo Championship held in China, national athlete Emine Göğebakan won a gold medal by defeating Milana Bekulova in the women's 46kg final, becoming the first world champion in the history of the championship.

Emine Göğebakan, competing in the World Taekwondo Championship, won a gold medal in the women's 46 kg category.

According to the statement from the Turkish Taekwondo Federation, Emine, who took to the mat on the 4th day of the event held in Wuxi, China, passed the first round without a match. Emine advanced to the finals by defeating Ni Kadek Heni from Indonesia, Violeta Diaz Arribas from Spain, Kamilah Salim from Hungary, and Aidana Kumartayeva from Kazakhstan in succession.

Facing Russian Milana Bekulova in the final, the 24-year-old national taekwondo athlete reached the top of the podium in her first world championship. Thus, Emine brought Turkey its first gold medal at the 2025 World Taekwondo Championship.
